Washington Car Tabs Fees Expected to Rise

The majority of Washington vehicle owners will pay more for their car tabs next year, according to a bill heading to the governor, which will save the state money on building a new ferry.

The state Department of Licensing will begin collecting a $5 fee for vehicle registrations and a $12 fee for title transactions starting next year. The money is to pay for a new 144-vehicle Olympic-class vessel.
